MOODREAL® mechanism of action has been proven to substantiate this mood activity through the inhibition of the reuptake of Serotonin.
Serotonin is one of the neurotransmitters that influences mood and anxiety. After being produced, most Serotonin is degraded or reuptake in our brain…not leading to sufficient quantity to lead to its activities after receptor binding. A serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI) acts as a inhibitor for reuptake of the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) by blocking the action of the serotonin transporter (SERT).
This in turn leads to increased extracellular concentrations of serotonin and, therefore, an increase in serotonergic neurotransmission. SRIs are commonly used to overcome anxiety and sadness.
